How do the Food for Life Partnership and Let's Get Cooking work together?

Let’s Get Cooking and The Food for Life Partnership are both five-year programmes funded by the BIG Lottery Fund’s Well Being Fund.

Both programmes are working together to ensure that the Lottery funding reaches as many people as possible.  As both programmes are delivered through schools across England, it is important to ensure that schools only receive funding from one of the schemes.

The following information should help schools decide which programme they would like to apply to join, or whether (in some cases) they can apply to join both programmes but only receive funding from one.

The Food for Life Partnership will have 180 Flagship schools and aim to sign up a further 3600 Food for Life Partnership Mark schools. Let’s Get Cooking will set up 3000 new cooking clubs, with 2000 existing cooking clubs joining as associate members.

We are a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school, can we join Let’s Get Cooking?

Food for Life Partnership Flagship schools receive a range of resources including  a visit from the Cooking Bus and a free ‘Cook it’ kit for the school, support to set up a farm link and organic garden, training for catering staff and other school staff and much more.

Flagship schools  therefore cannot receive additional funding from Let’s Get Cooking.  However, they may be eligible to join as non-funded associate clubs.  They will receive access to the Club Zone of the Let’s Get Cooking website, activity packs each term and a Start-Up pack full of information, posters, stickers, certificates and much more!  Non-funded associate clubs will also be able to purchase discounted cooking equipment through our corporate partners and enter any competitions or attend events.

If you are a Food for Life Partnership Flagship School that would like to join Let’s Get Cooking as a non-funded associate club, please email info@letsgetcooking.org.uk.  Make sure you mention in your email that you are a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school and provide the name of the headteacher and full postal address of the school. Please also let your Food for Life Partnership regional co-ordinator know you are signing up as a non-funded associate club.

Our school has a Let’s Get Cooking club, can we become a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school?

If you have successfully applied to become a new or associate Let’s Get Cooking club you will have received funding, resources and training* (*new clubs only).  If you apply to become a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school and are accepted, you will no longer be able to receive funding from Let’s Get Cooking.   Your school will become a non-funded associate club.

Non-funded associate clubs receive access to the Club Zone of the Let’s Get Cooking website, activity packs each term and a Start-Up pack full of information, posters, stickers, certificates and much more!  Non-funded associate clubs will also be able to purchase discounted cooking equipment through our corporate partners and enter any competitions or attend events.

If you have a Let’s Get Cooking club and subsequently become a Food for Life Flagship school, you will be notified to confirm that you will not receive any further funding from Let’s Get Cooking.

Our school has a new (or associate) Let’s Get Cooking club. Can we enrol on the Food for Life Partnership Mark?

All schools are eligible to enrol on the Food for Life Partnership mark, as long as they are participating in Healthy Schools and can demonstrate they are checking compliance against food-based standards.

Schools that have successfully applied to have a new or associate Let’s Get Cooking club and then enrol on the Food for Life Partnership mark, will still receive funding, resources, training* (*new clubs only) and support from Let’s Get Cooking.  In addition, they will receive the following support from the Food for Life Partnership: telephone advice and support, access to training events and seminars in key regions and access to the Food for Life Partnership award scheme.

If you have a Let’s Get Cooking club and you would like to enrol on the Food for Partnership Mark, please visit www.foodforlife.org.uk
