Are you interested in setting up a Let's Get Cooking club at your school? Or maybe you already have a cooking club and you're interested in joining a national network and receiving resources and support?
Let's Get Cooking clubs receive training, resources, support from our regional staff and funding for cooking equipment and running costs (subject to eligibility).
Most schools are working towards improving food provision and teaching pupils how to adopt healthier lifestyles. Let's Get Cooking will:
- Teach your children and their families a valuable life skill as well as how to eat more healthily.
- Add a new dimension to school events.
- Help children to develop social and personal skills. Cooking is a practical, creative activity which all children seem to love. It helps to develop social skills and develop a sense of responsibility and team work.
- Help you to meet the requirements of Every Child Matters.
- Contribute to gaining or maintaining Healthy School Accreditation.
- Provide you with further evidence that you are fulfilling requirements of the Self Evaluation Form*
- Provide further material for your School Profile**
- Add to your Extended School services and activities.
- Licence to Cook: This will entitle all secondary school students with the opportunity of learning to cook. A Let's Get Cooking club will support this new requirement.
- Complement curriculum activities such as Science, PSHCE, and Design and Technology and Food Technology programmes of study.
*(Particularly Section 4: ‘To what extent do learners adopt healthy lifestyles?’ and Sections 3a, 7b and 7c).
**(How do we make sure our pupils are healthy, safe and well-supported? What activities are available to pupils? How are we working with parents and the community?)
If you are already running a cooking club at your school you can apply now to join the programme as an associate club. Click here to find out more.
