Sheffield schools attend first Start-Up Days
Twenty Sheffield schools attended a Start-Up Day to learn all about Let’s Get Cooking. A small group of adults and children attended from each club and everyone was very excited about doing some cooking as a group.
After playing some food-related games, club members made smoothies and veggie dippers and dips, which they ate as part of their lunch. Everyone made apple crumble to take home. Even the photographer from the Sheffield Telegraph (who came to take photographs of the event) enjoyed tasting the smoothies!
One of the schools sent through this email the next day, which really summed up the mood of the Start-Up events: “Just a quick message to thank everyone involved yesterday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to the Demonstrator days. Can’t wait to get going!! Thanks again.”
A few weeks later, two adults from each club attended a two-day Demonstrator Training course, to learn about food safety, hygiene and how to demonstrate recipes. Everyone really enjoyed the course and we received some very positive feedback. One delegate said: “It is the best course I have attended for getting people involved from all different backgrounds, without making people feel inundated or uncomfortable. We have been given useful and practical advice.”
We can’t wait to hear about the activities that our new Sheffield clubs have planned!
