Schools across England have signed up

Let’s Get Cooking goes national

Hundreds of schools around the country have signed up to Let’s Get Cooking and we’re starting to build up our network of after-school cooking clubs.  We sent out invitations to schools in twenty local authorities, which were chosen in consultation with local Healthy Schools Coordinators.  We’ll be visiting every local authority in England over the next three years.

We only have a limited number of places, so schools are invited to sign up on a first-come-first-served basis via our website.  In most areas all the places were filled within half an hour of online registration opening to all schools and  we now have a waiting list! It is very exciting to see how eager schools are to set up an after-school cooking club.

We do try to encourage schools that will benefit most from having a Let’s Get Cooking club to apply, so we give priority to schools that have a higher eligibility for free school meals.

We are still recruiting schools and by the end of May 2008 we’ll have 450 new clubs on board.  Soon all clubs will have received their training, resources and funding and will be up and running by September 2008.
