How do we measure the impact of Let's Get Cooking?
Evaulation study
A sample of 300 Let's Get Cooking clubs are taking part in our evaluation study which has been granted ethical approval until 8 July 2012 by the Research Ethics committee of Kings College London. Further information about the methodology can be provided on request.
Monitoring and tracking
With over 3000 active cooking clubs, it is important that we are able to monitor their progress. We have developed a comprehensive tracking database which enables us to analyse the progress of clubs across the country.
Each club has their own website page which they use to provide reports, upload photos, recipes and other information about club activities. This feeds into our database allowing us to check that clubs are following our guidelines. Clubs that successfully follow the Let's Get Cooking guidelines for running a healthy cooking club achieve Let's Get Cooking accreditation.
Delegate evaluation
Every delegate that attends a Let's Get Cooking training course or event is asked to complete an evaluation form. We consistently receive overwhelmingly positive feedback and on average 98% of people attending our two-day Let's Get Cooking Demonstrator Training rate it as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.
Networking
Let's Get Cooking Regional staff keep in regular contact with clubs, before, during and after their initial training and following up with cluster or celebration events once clubs have been running for a year or longer. We often receive unsolicited feedback explaining how successful cooking clubs are and the impact that learning to cook has had on club members, leaders, the school and the wider community.
Club survey
Each year we ask Club Coordinators for their feedback on the programme and receive a high response rate (40% of clubs responded to the club survey in 2010). Results show:
- 99% of Club Coordinators would recommend Let's Get Cooking to others.
- 72% of clubs rated our communications as ‘excellent’
- 96% of Let's Get Cooking clubs would like to remain part of the network after funding from the Lottery ceases.
